visit coir village & traditional coir making.

Progarm : We offer "Kettuvellom" houseboat
cruise in the serene backwaters north of Alleppey. The boat will be
cruising along wide canals and lagoons during day time an anchored near an
island during the night . a very relaxing way to experience the charming
back waters of Kerala. Visit coconut plantations, coir making, tarditional
fishing and other village activities. A rare chance to see different spice
plants such as pepper, coffee, cloves, nutmeg etc. 30 minutes walk around
the villages under the cocnut palm trees. Watch
birds like the King Fisher, Bee Eaters, Cormorats etc.

About the boat :
The house boat converted from
"Kettuvallom" (traditional rice barge)is made of the hard wood
'Anjili' and is about 70 feet long and 13 feet wide. it has a spacious
double room with a modern toilet and an open pavilion. The cruise is
accompanied by a crew of two boat men, one cook, and one english speaking
guide.

is Rs 4500/-( Including transportation, accomodation, back water cruise
and food.) For two persons. And for an extra person Rs 750/-.
2. 20 hours on a house boat. and 30 hours on a country
boat. Fare Rs 4000/-(Includes transportaion, accomodations, backwater

About the village :
The village liesa 20 kms
Southeast of Cochin. Since there are no industries in the area, the
village is free of noise, pollution etc. The main occupation of the
villagers is making rope from coconut fibre, strawmat weaving using
pineapple leaves,collecting sand from river bed, fishing and farming.
About the boats : The house boat ia converted
"Kettuvellom". (Traditional Rice Barge), it is made of hard wood
'Ajili ' and is about 70 feet long and 13 feet wide. It has a spacious
double room with a modern toilet. Also, a pavillion of 15 persons seating
capacity is provided. The country boat is a nonmechanised traditional open
canoe rowed by two villagers. It is made from Hardwood 'Anjil. And is
about 25 feet long and 8 feet in width.
Price : Rs 750/- per
person includes seven hours backwater cruise, lunch and transportation.
Free hotel pick up is also provided.

Commonly observed birds include Honey suckers, Cormorands,Cuckoos,
Wood-Peckers,Paracketes, Harons, Egrets, Indian Mina, Drongos (Fork and
Racket tailed), Bull Bulls, Black Oreol, Wild Fowls, Crow Pheasents, Bea
Eaters, King Fishers etc. Animals found are Grey Fox, Mongoose and
Squirrels.
Cusine : North Kerala has a ancient and varied cusine with
contrasting taste, some of which are influenced by Arabic traditions
because of ancient trade links. Traditional and authentic Kerala
delicacies with fresh food will be served by our family cook. Seasonal
tropical fruits areavailable. The kitchen is open-and if you want to you
can also cook.
Excrusions : Bicycle ridesa around the country side. Watch 2 hours
Theyyam performance, the ritual art of Keralaat Parassinikadavu Sree
Muthappan temple. Visit Handloom weaving center, Fishing habour,
Vegetable market, Ayurveadic treatment center, St. Angelo's Fort and
agricultural farm.

In the lower hills of Nillgiris,
this little known wild life santuary near Wynad is a part of the Nilgiri
reserve and offers a great chance of spotting wild life. This lush rain
forest, forming a part of the Nagarhole National park, shelters a unique
ecological richness of rare plants, orchids and wild life.
The animals include elephants, wild boar, wild gaur,
spotted deer, sambar etc along with an incredible variety of birds. The
flora includes rose wood, teak, silver oak, bamboo etc.

Location : The game park is situated 40kms north
of Kalpetta. ( 3 hours journey from Calicut and 4 hours journey from
Mysore.)

Accomodation : The accomodation is arranged in a
Guest House, a 60 year old Heritage home with five rooms, just opposite
the santuary. Rooms have fan, netted windows, attached western toilets and
balcony facing the forest. Traditional Kerala delicacies will be served.
Wild life Safari : Guided jeep safari inside the
forest every morning and evening and jungle walk to the neighbouring
santuary.
Excrusions : Trekking in hills, visit Thirunelli
and Valliyoorkavu Bhaghvathy temples, Kuruva island, walking tour to the
spice plantations and visit tribal settlements.

ecrusions extra. There are buses from Cochin ( 7 hours journey ) and from
Mysore ( 4 hours journey). Bus connections are also available from
Mercara, Bandipur, Mudumalai, Calicut and Kannur.
Rs 5500 per person includes twao days accomodation in the
Guest house, food , excrusions, wild life tour , train journey from Cochin
to Calicut and car pick up to Guest house and transfer to Mysore/
Bandipur/ Mudumalai / Ootty.
